Cambodia

There's always an adventure behind the adventure.  I recently spent some time in Cambodia working on a project for Automobile Magazine.  The video is still in the editing stages but a behind the scenes look seemed appropriate for this post.

Before I could leave my good friend and roommate Philip Birschbach took me out to Venice for a birthday/send off dinner.

We sat back and watched some surfing while waiting for our table.

Packed and ready my good friend/cinematographer/world traveler Derek Street took the window seat on the long flight to Hong Kong.  This guys been all over the world, he's a great shooter and always has my back, it's always an honor to get to work with him.

Business class across the Pacific is legit enough but Subaru managed to have golf carts waiting at our gate to take us to customs, baggage claim, and to the car for the hotel.

Ridiculous.

We hit the streets of Hong Kong for dinner.

Calling it a night we hopped a boat ride back to the hotel.

Landing in Cambodia was a whirlwind and the pace didn't change much throughout our time in this amazing country.  I managed to grab the EOS3 whenever I had a free hand, which was usually when we hopped a tuktuk.  Derek and our photographer Robin Trajano were repping the mustache style hard.

Robin snapping some shots while we wait for a ferry to cross the Mekong River.

Crossing the Mekong is certainly a moment to remember.  Yes, the shore is on fire.

No one seemed bothered by the fire or us climbing around the boat to get shots.

It was a late night push to Siem Reap, do your best to not drive at night in Cambodia.

The late night push was well worth it to see the sun rise over Angkor Wat.

Shooting timelapses gave me plenty to time to snap off some film.

But I wasn't really comfortable leaving my established location.  This is the off season...

I much prefer the quiet serenity of the east side of Angkor.  Note the absence of stairs, that's where the king pulled up on his elephant.

It was an amazing, eye opening project to shoot and I cant wait for the video to go live.  We spent our last day in Cambodia in Phnom Penh.  Our fixer, Peterson Khim showed us the best spots for a little retail therapy to wind down the adventure.

Derek scored some fresh Yeezys.  No better way to end the trip.
